Enter The Underwater Museum of Alonissos

Strap on your snorkel or scuba gear, dive into the adventure and unlock the secrets of Sporades' underwater world. 

Established in 2020 the underwater museum was firstly envisioned as a marine park. The museum encompasses an area of 22,000 square meters within the National Marine Park of Alonissos, Northern Sporades, making it the first of its kind in Greece and one of the few in the world.

Resting at a depth of 28-30 meters, at the heart of this submerged gallery lies the Peristera Shipwreck, a 5th-century BC ancient Greek merchant ship that was first discovered in 1982 by a Greek diver. Laden with amphorae filled with wine, oil, and other goods, the ship offers a glimpse into the maritime trade routes and daily life of ancient seafarers.

Diving enthusiasts of all skill levels can explore the museum's underwater wonders under the guidance of experienced instructors. Snorkeling tours are also available for those who prefer to stay closer to the surface.

Splashing through the Mamma Mia Route

Inspired by the iconic musical and movie "Mamma Mia!", this route takes Istion sailors on a journey through some of Greece's most picturesque destinations in Sporades each one a stage for romance, adventure and endless vistas.

 First Stop: Skiathos

The island's enchanting beauty served as one of the primary filming locations for the movie. Daydream on the sun-kissed shores and stroll in the charming streets of Skiathos town, which provided a picturesque background for several musical numbers.

 Second Stop: Skopelos

Visit Skopelos or Kalokairi islands as it was called in the movie where the majority of "Mamma Mia!" movie was filmed. Channel your inner Dancing Queen from the colorful facades of the old town to the idyllic chapel of Agios Ioannis Kastri, perched atop a rugged cliff, where the iconic Sophie's wedding scene unfolded. Movie scenes await at every turn.
