The Cannes Yachting Festival is officially over and what a spectacle of yachts it was!
Yacht galore for all sailing & yachting enthusiasts as our team had a hands-on experience of the industry's top trending yacht models. Let's relive our time in Cannes and the yachts we saw and take a day-by-day walk-through of this entire yacht fiesta.
Day #1: Lagoon 55 / World Premiere - Port Canto
What a better way to kickstart our first day at Cannes Yachting Festival other than the world premiere of Lagoon 55!
Drawn from deep in Lagoons DNA where innovation coexists with attention to detail and creativity. Imagine the Lagoon concept of tomorrow. In details:
Exterior
• The new Lagoon 55 offers an unequalled view of the splendor of the sea!
• The new on-board access and circulation concepts offer a brand new sensation. The transoms are no longer just a circulation area but a real living space at anchor, for cooking in the outdoors or simply for dreaming with your feet in the water.
• The revised flybridge is an invitation to relax with beautiful sunbathing, a wooden table, and a remote cockpit that can accommodate up to 3 people.
Interior
• A large bright saloon, with central opening glazing that provides a feeling of space without borders and excellent ventilation.
• A welcoming and modern L-shaped kitchen.
• Beautiful cabins bathed in light, with neat finishes and Corian in the bathrooms.
• The beds are turned towards the sea to make the most of these exceptional.
Day #2: Fountaine Pajot - Tanna 47 / World Premiere
The very first unveiling of Fountaine Pajot Tanna47, a unique project that we were so excited to be a part of. So what's exciting about Tanna47?
Apart from being one of the best up and coming catamarans in the mediterranean it's a total revamp of how Fountaine Pajot operates in a catamaran design.
• Larger & even more lively flybridge.
• Full of renewable energy outlets.
• Improved helm station & fittings.
• Relaxation areas all over the boat.
• Bigger, sunlighted and fully ergonomic saloon.
• Probably some of the largest Master cabins for catamarans this size, with 3 main areas: sleeping area with Queen size bed, laundry area with a lot of storage, and spacious bathroom with separate head.
Overall a fully ergonomic catamaran that combines space and comfort!
Day #3: Lagoon SIXTY 5 / World Premiere
And what a day to present the most successful catamaran of its calibre, SIXTY 5!
Lagoon SIXTY 5 is the latest pocket superyacht and little sister to the magnificent Seventy 7. So in the same manner the SIXTY 5 brings new innovations to the table to maximise safety, handling and experience.
Innovations in details:
• Improved access to the flybridge from the open cockpit.
• Twin helm brought forward for short-handed sailing.
• Reversible full width cockpit lounge so you can face outwards to the ocean or inwards to guests.
• Feel at home with your choice of woods and upholstery to suit your style and taste.
• Galley up or down?
• Up to 6 double ensuite cabins + additional space for crew.
As you step on board the Lagoon SIXTY 5 you will be able to appreciate her wide transom platforms and low stairs. They allow guests to comfortably access the massive cockpit. Overall a catamaran made with precision and finesse.
Day #4: Jeanneau Yachts 60 / World Premiere
All sailing enthusiasts rejoice as we get to tour Jeanneau latest wrapped in luxury sailing yacht, The Jeanneau Yacht 60 - An innovative and elegant 60-footer with timeless charm!
Interior: Refinement & Balance
From the moment you step aboard, you will feel a considerable sensation of volume, enhanced by perfectly sculpted surfaces bathed in light.
Key points:
• 4 living areas: forepeak, forward cabins, salon with the forward galley, and the aft cabins.
• Mastery of space - the galley is positioned forward
• Quality of life on board
Exterior: Agility & Harmony
Particular attention was paid to the quality of life on board, with dedicated living spaces for relaxation, the galley (with an optional cockpit galley), reading, dining, and sunbathing. With large openings in the hull, the interior is bathed in natural light, enabling you to live in symbiosis with the sea, visible even from the berths.
Key points:
• Inverted bow.
• Evolutive hull chine.
• Integrated bowsprit.
• High sheer line.
• Walkaround sidedecks for easy movement about the boat without obstacles. They descend directly from the cockpit!
Day #5: Dufour 470 / World Premiere
Another World Premiere unveiling, for Dufour 470 this time which is already a fan favorite and surely not just an ordinary yacht!
Dufour has again raised the bar as the 470 is more than your average yacht. The Dufour 470 combines both Dufour’s know-how and the Brand’s desire to innovate. This model, in line with its predecessor, enjoys the yard’s DNA while offering an edge of modernity.
Key points:
• Available with 3, 4 or 5 cabin layout options.
• Available in three deck layouts: Easy, Performance and Ocean versions.
The Easy version, a very simple layout, intended primarily for charter, with sheeting and control lines led to a singular aft winch, at the back of the cockpit coaming.
The Ocean model is aimed at owners wanting a more traditional layout, with the halyards and control lines led to the coach roof and the sheets led to the helm station – in essence the cruising model for most prospective owners.
Finally a Performance version sports six winches, two each for main, genoa and pit, enabling constant sail trimming.
Day #6: Excess Catamarans
The Excess Catamarans unveiling proves nowadays that catamarans are more than ever part of a new trend: living the sea at 360°.
Excess Catamarans offer a refined combination of both performance and leisure. Let's dive into the world of excess - and discover what it means to be immoderate.
Excess 11: All the features of a big boat
The Excess 11 is the only large-scale production boat on the market for this size of catamaran. She is one of the smallest cruising catamarans capable of offering so much comfort and space, not to mention the thrill of sailing.
Excess 12: Sophisticated design
A catamaran with character, accomplished, balanced and distinguished: refined lines, elegant proportions, perfect balance. Its design embodies both sportsmanship and modernity.
Excess 15: The embodiment of sportsmanship
The Excess 15 has been designed for all those who dream of a cruising catamaran offering proper sailing sensations. Aboard this catamaran, you’ll experience so many emotions: aesthetic and sporting. Her very luminous, contemporary interior, open to the outside world, and her new-generation rig promise some beautiful sailing and a feeling of pleasure at sea.
Day #7: Bali Catamarans
Last for the day and what a way to close this very special event!
Bali 4.2 - Open Space
The Bali 4.2, once again breaking away from other boats of the same size on the market, offers a deck area of 79.2 m² (852 sq ft), meaning around 10% more than competitors in the same category.
Like its flagship Bali 5.4, the little sister includes popular features such as:
• front door connecting the salon to the forward cockpit and
• improving ventilation and the
• convertible open spaces with the tilting button-operated “garage door”.
The Bali 4.2 has several updated features like the new salon layout with two club chairs to starboard in 3 and 4 cabin versions.
